Mahadi Shawon
Mahadi Shawon is a Bangladeshi filmmaker, producer, and cinematographer with over a decade of experience in visual storytelling. Born in Magura, Bangladesh, he discovered his passion for filmmaking early, despite limited access to resources, and earned a degree in Film Studies from SEGi University, Malaysia.
He founded S2S Productions Ltd/S2S Productions LA LLC, directing and producing independent films, TV dramas, documentaries, commercials, and international collaborations, with a focus on socially relevant themes and cultural authenticity.
Mahadi later moved to Los Angeles to continue his education at Los Angeles City College, gaining training through programs with Netflix, Disney, and Panavision, and collaborating with Film Independent, Universal Studios Hollywood, and DTLA Law Group.
A Panavision-certified cinematographer and SOC member, Mahadi is skilled with ARRI, RED, and Sony systems, lighting, grip, and aerial cinematography. His work explores identity, trauma, and resilience, shaped by his immigrant experience.
He founded Direction for Camera (DFC), inspired by the Cinematography for Actors (CFA) Institute, to empower underrepresented Bangladeshi filmmakers through mentorship, training, and international industry connections.
Based in Los Angeles, Mahadi develops short films, features and commercials, volunteers with the American Red Cross, and remains committed to creating inclusive narratives that resonate across cultures while nurturing the next generation of filmmakers through DFC.
